My MSX disassembly is around 50% complete IIRC; I could probably go back to that and deduce the rest of the logic much more easily now with the original under my belt.

This page here mentions at least one other version "with original AI" but not sure about the others. I do suspect that in most of the more faithful ports (eg. MSX, C64) the AI was also faithfully reproduced. Especially, as you suggest, that some levels would no doubt have been designed around the specific AI behaviour.

The above link also mentions that Championship Lode Runner was simply a collection of user-designed levels. That bodes well for the possibility of including those levels into the Coco3 port!tcdevhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17906878237742487968noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1235714562632087542.post-7386339464429689792014-05-30T04:13:53.922+10:002014-05-30T04:13:53.922+10:00I'm quite interested in how the AI works, but ...I'm quite interested in how the AI works, but I'm really curious if the pathfinding bug appears in other ports of Lode Runner. Presumably it would be easy to find a test case in the Apple ][ version and try that same scenario in the ports.

I could see that it would come through if it were needed to finish a level. Certainly some of the other seemingly "dumb" guard moves are important. Like them running away when you're on a ladder but just a little below a platform they're on.gp2000https://www.blogger.com/profile/02992652811452483354noreply@blogger.com
